California International Theatre Festival

September 8 - 18 | Ventura

The Festival will take place in several locations in Calabasas, Downtown Los Angeles, and Ventura. The Ventura performances include “Scenario: For A Non-Existent, But Possible, Instrumental Actor,” by Evoe Performing Artists from Germany; “Concert Under the Stars,” with Marjana Sadowska from Ukraine, which is a concert with storytelling using indigenous music from East Europe, the Middle East, and the world; and from the U.S., “¡Gaytino!,” written and performed by Dan Guerrero and directed by Diane Rodriguez. Beatrice Wood Exhibit and “Paint Ventura” After Party

September 10 | Fox Fine Jewelry, Downtown Ventura

Fox Fine Jewelry will exhibit the largest West Coast collection of Beatrice Wood drawings. The exhibit includes 55 drawings and is for one day only, September 10, from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Paint Ventura (paintventura.com) is an outdoor arts festival held from September 9-11 throughout Downtown Ventura. On September 10 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., more than 100 artists will paint outdoors in the downtown area. There will be live music, performances, art instruction, and workshops. Day For Kids

This annual event sponsored by the Boys & Girls Club of Ventura features entertainment, live music, Wii Kinect, face painting, Dance Dance Revolution tournaments, martial arts demonstrations, carnival games, Jolly Jumper, food, prizes, and more. Game cards can be purchased for $1. The event occurs each year to celebrate and honor America’s children by spending meaningful time with them. Brillig Manor Studio & Garden Tour

Ventura Hillsides Music Festival

September 25 | Arroyo Verde Park, Ventura

Grateful grooves and jazzy jams from the Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Texas R & B from the Fabulous Thunderbirds, sweet southern gospel and soul from the Blind Boys of Alabama, and an eclectic tour of world music with multi-instrumentalist and frequent Jackson Browne cohort David Lindley. Seating for the event will be festival style, using the contours of the grassy hill in Arroyo Verde Park as a natural amphitheatre. Ventura County Agriculture Museum Opening

Look inside a hard working beehive, let your kids climb on a vintage tractor, and learn about how food is grown, when the Museum of Ventura County’s long awaited Agriculture Museum opens. Permanent exhibits using rare historical photographs and interactive elements tell the story of Ventura County’s farming and ranching tradition. Ventura County Oktoberfest

October 1 | Commemorative Air Force Museum

Proceeds will benefit Ventura County philanthropies supported by the Rotary Club of Thousand Oaks Sunrise. Each adult visitor will receive a souvenir tasting mug with which to sample more than 25 beers from regions throughout Germany as well as 20 German wines and a selection of local microbrews. Ojai Valley Green Coalition Green Home & Building Tour and Home Show

The Ventura County Search and Rescue - Upper Ojai Team is holding a fundraiser at Boccali’s Restaurant in Ojai on October 2 from 4:00-7:30 p.m. The event will include dinner, live music, a raffle, and a silent auction. An all-volunteer organization, the team receives no direct public funds and depends on community support for everything from medical supplies to search and rescue equipment.
