he inaugural ArtsLIVE Grants Reception, held at the Poinsettia Pavilion in Ventura, celebrated this year’s grant honorees. A three-year initiative funded in part by the James Irvine Foundation’s Communities Advancing the Arts initiative, ArtsLIVE launched formally in September 2008 following publication of research conducted for the Ventura County Community Foundation (VCCF) by the Center for Leadership and Values at California Lutheran University. This year, the VCCF ArtsLIVE program provided $90,000 in grants to almost twenty nonprofits for outstanding visual, literary, and media arts projects in Ventura County and, in a program administered by the Ventura County Arts Council, $30,000 to artists for innovative partnerships involving an array of community agencies. For more information, go to ArtsLiveInVC.org or call 805.988.0196 ext. 134.
