Women of Jewelia Thank You Party

hen 13 local women all pitched in to buy a diamond necklace, a symbol of exclusivity became a symbol of sharing. The idea was that each of the “Women of Jewelia” would have the necklace for a month and they’d use their collective energy to improve themselves and help others. Of course they’d all get to enjoy the bling, too. On October 23 at My Florist restaurant in Downtown Ventura, the women threw a thank you party to celebrate the generosity of their supporters and the community organizations that connect them. Copies of Cheryl Jarvis’s book “The Necklace: Thirteen Women and the Experiment that Transformed their Lives” was available for purchase, with proceeds going to Aspiranet, the evening’s sponsor.

Rather than name all the individuals in our photos, we decided to print the names of all the community groups invited to participate. The Women of Jewelia support:

Aspiranet, Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County, Easter Seals, National Alliance on Mental Illness, CAREgivers Volunteers Assisting the Elderly, United Women’s Leadership Council, Coalition to End Domestic Violence, Working Artists Ventura (WAV), Miracle House, Ventura County Community Foundation Women’s Legacy Fund, Catholic Charities, The Salvation Army, Rally for a Cure, United Way of Ventura California, Father Singh’s Bus Project, Segue Career Guidance Program, Ventura Social Services Task Force, Art City Studios, Ventura Botanical Gardens, St. Bonaventure Academic Enrichment Group, Food Share.
