Downtown Center for the Arts (DCA) is presenting a tribute to Gabriel Figueroa, the acclaimed cinematographer from Mexico's Golden Age of Film (1930-1960). The tribute includes a four-week film series during the City of Oxnard’s Latino Heritage Month. The nationally recognized performance artist and painter Gronk will be featured. To launch the tribute, DCA held a benefit dinner on September 13 at the Topa Tower Club in Oxnard, where Gronk unveiled a new print inspired by the film Nazarin, which is part of the Figueroa film series. Gronk also discussed his career and the cinema’s influence on his work. DCA is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to foster economic development and cross-cultural understanding through the arts. For more information about the film series visit DowntownCenter.org.
