Rubicon International Theatre Festival Opening Ceremony, Ventura


n July 18 at the Majestic Ventura Theatre, actors, RITF board members, theatre supporters, and revelers joined together for the Rubicon International Theatre Festival opening ceremony. Hosted by Ed Begley Jr., this star-studded evening featured a concert by Oscar and Grammy Award Nominee Stephen Bishop and lively performances by Taiko Drummers and the Claddagh Irish Dancers. In the dimly lit theatre, festival actors recited Shakespeare's eternal question "To be or not to beÖ" in their native tongues accompanied by piano underscoring.

The event also included the inaugural presentation of The Gordon Davidson Award for Distinguished Creative Contribution to the Art of the Theatre honoring Gordon Davidson, Founding Artistic Director of Center Theatre Group.
