THE ARIANNA STRING QUARTET AND PIANIST MICHELE LEVIN

Celebrating its fifth season, Chamber on the Mountain welcomes the return of the Arianna String Quartet accompanied by the pianist Michele Levin. The program includes Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue, BWV 903, by Johann Sebastian Bach; String Quartet No. 2, “Intimate Letters,” by Leoš Janácek; and the Piano Quintet in F minor, Op. 34, by Johannes Brahms.  Audience members are invited to stay and meet the artists at a reception following the performance. SANTA NIGHTS AT CAMARILLO RANCH

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting the Camarillo Ranch, and children will be able to take photos with the jolly couple inside Adolfo Camarillo’s 1892 Queen Anne Victorian home. Plus, the Red Barn will be transformed into Santa’s Workshop, and gourmet food trucks will be on site for those interested in warming up with hot cocoa or a tasty treat. 4:30-7:30 p.m., $5 per adult. VENTURA COUNTY BALLET COMPANY PRESENTS THE NUTCRACKER

This year, the celebrated ballet company, along with a full 52-piece live orchestra, will perform the family classic at the newly renovated Ventura College Performing Arts Center. The enchanting choreography with Tchaikovsky’s famed score, accompanied by the Ventura College Symphony Orchestra, will add to the ambience. Guests are invited to take a magical journey into the world of life-sized mice, dancing sweets and a magical prince. Showtime is 7 p.m. Tickets: $20-40. 56TH ANNUAL CAMARILLO CHRISTMAS PARADE

Santa returns to Camarillo! The Camarillo Christmas Parade begins at 10 a.m. and will feature floats, bands, autos and other fun stuff. The theme of the 2017 event is “A Fairytale Christmas.” From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Santa’s Village Holiday Carnival will pop up. The parade starts at Las Posas and Temple Avenue and travels west on Las Posas and then takes a left on Carmen Drive, while Santa’s Village will be located at Community Center Park, 1605 E. CHANNEL ISLANDS HARBOR PARADE OF LIGHTS

Play in the snow, meet Santa and partake in children’s activities throughout the day, and stick around for the annual Parade of Lights featuring vessels decorated in holiday bling. Beginning at noon, families can play in 36 tons of snow falling at the north end of Harbor View Park. Santa will be present and will take pictures with families free of charge. This year’s parade theme is “Fairy Tales Afloat,” so expect your favorite storybooks to come alive on the water beginning at 7 p.m., all culminating in a flyover by Santa Claus himself. FOCUS ON THE MASTERS PRESENTS JOHN NAVA

John Nava, renowned painter and creator of the tapestries at the Cathedral of our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles, will discuss his newly published book, Sacred Material: The Art of the Tapestries of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. The book recounts the groundbreaking techniques employed in creating the three monumental commissions. The talk will take place from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Nava’s lecture will precede a book signing and sale, with a generous portion of the proceeds to benefit Focus on the Masters. FOOTWORKS BALLET PRESENTS THE NUTCRACKER

See the magic unfold in this family performance of the classic holiday story of the Nutcracker. A traditional holiday party is the setting for this entertaining fantasy journey to the Land of Sweets. With a cast of 70 children and teens, Footworks Youth Ballet’s 13th annual production of the winter classic will dazzle audiences with its colorful costumes, professional sets and live orchestra and choir. CAROLING AND PARADE OF LIGHTS HOLIDAY CRUISES
